Nick Hammond is reportedly now ‘interested’ in signing Benoit Badiashile for Newcastle United in the January transfer window.

The Lowdown: Hammond busy

Having been hired as a transfer consultant on a short-term deal at St. James’ Park (Sky Sports), Hammond is likely to be a very busy man this month.

Kieran Trippier has already been brought in, and now it looks like a new central defender is next on the list.

Both Sven Botman and Diego Carlos have been heavily linked with a switch to the North East recently, as they look to bolster up their defence even more.

The Latest: Badiashile interest

As per Foot Mercato journalist and transfer expert Santi Aouna, the Tyneside outfit, as well as West Ham United, are now ‘interested’ in signing Badiashile, and there has already been ‘contact made’ with AS Monaco and the player’s representatives.

They will ‘take action’ in the event that deals for either Botman or Carlos fall through.

The Verdict: Great alternative

If deals cannot be done for Botman or Carlos, than Badiashile is a great alternative.

Standing at six foot four, the Frenchman is a beast, and not only is he a threat physically, but he is also ‘very good technically’ and ‘very fast’, according to Monaco Vice President Oleg Petrov (Get French Football News).

Badiashile has the whole package as a centre-back, and the scary thing is he is just 20 years of age, and so has a big future ahead of him.

Nonetheless, he would be a shrewd signing by the Magpies, especially if they can snap him up this month.

What’s the talk?

According to the Daily Mail, the Magpies have held talks over a potential deal for the midfielder and face competition from elsewhere for his services.

Howe could find Newcastle’s new midfield hero in Bissouma by bringing him to the club. The Mali international could be Yohan Cabaye 2.0 for the Magpies by running the middle of the park and scoring outrageous goals from distance.

Cabaye enjoyed a fantastic spell on Tyneside as he produced 18 goals and 14 assists in 93 matches. He was capable of delivering moments of magic for the Toon, including long-range strikes against Liverpool and Manchester United, and Bissouma is a player who could provide a similar impact.

The Seagulls man scored a sensational goal against Everton in the Premier League last season and a stunning long-range effort against Blackpool in the FA Cup. This shows that, much like Cabaye was, he has the talent to score goals out of nothing and lift Newcastle from difficult situations by scoring a world-class goal to change a game.

Gary Lineker once dubbed the midfielder an “exceptional footballer” on Twitter and it is easy to see why when you look at his statistics for Brighton in the Premier League. He has averaged a sublime WhoScored rating of 7.13 in the division for Graham Potter’s side, proving that he can deliver consistently brilliant performances at this level.

Last season, he averaged a score of 6.98 across 36 appearances in the top-flight. He made 4.7 tackles and interceptions per game and is currently averaging 5.5 this term to highlight the defensive strength he brings to the table. He is able to regularly win possession back off the opposition whilst carrying a goal threat and producing top-class displays each week.

Therefore, he could be a sensational addition to Newcastle’s squad and Howe must ensure that the club can secure a deal for him. The £29k-per-week gem could be the new Cabaye, midfield hero, on Tyneside and lead the team to survival in the second half of the season, judging by his displays for Brighton in the same league.

وأشار مرتضى منصور إلى أن اللاعب عمرو السيسي تعاقد مع الزمالك لمدة 4 مواسم مقبلة.

وأوضح منصور أن عمرو السيسي أصر على الانضمام للزمالك، وكان لديه رغبة قوية في اللعب للقلعة البيضاء.

وأضاف منصور في تصريحات مصورة عبر قناته على موقع “يوتيوب”: “عمرو السيسي مسمار خط الوسط، عندما كنت أقول إن هناك صفقتين متبقيتين لم أكن أمزح، رغم إن فيريرا قال لدينا لاعبين كفاية، لكن هذه الصفقات زيادة”.

Aston Villa continue to make moves in the January transfer window amid reports claiming they are closing in on the signing of Dundee United starlet Kerr Smith.

What’s the story?

Writing initially on Twitter, journalist Scott Burns said: “@dundeeunitedfc defender Kerr Smith heads south to finalise big-money move to @AVFCOfficial.”

Then, in a follow-up article for The Scottish Express Sport, he added: “Dundee United have agreed a deal to sell Kerr Smith to Aston Villa in a deal that could eventually net them close to £2 million. The English Premier League side have managed to negotiate a significant transfer fee up front along with a number of major add-ons for their in-demand academy graduate.

“Crystal Palace, Southampton, Everton and Chelsea were all interested in the 17-year-old but Steven Gerrard’s Villa have struck a deal with sporting director Tony Asghar. The teenager has now been given permission to travel south for a medical, to agree terms and finalise his dream move.

While the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Digne will no doubt play a major part in Villa’s first team over the coming weeks and months, the arrival of Smith is one for the future.
