According to Sevilla ABC, Crystal Palace have come to an agreement to sign Real Betis midfielder Victor Camarasa, and Eagles fans have been quick to react to the news on Twitter.

Marca suggested earlier this week that the south London outit would have to pay between €12m-€15m (£11m-£13.7m) if they wanted to get the 25-year-old, but now Sevilla ABC report that they will pay €1.5m (£1.4m) to loan him for the season, with an obligation to buy him for €13.5m (£12.4m) if they remain in the Premier League.

It has to be seen as a genius deal given how impressive the Spaniard was during a loan spell with Cardiff City last term, where he provided five goals and four assists in a struggling side that ultimately suffered relegation to the Championship.

Of course, not paying out for the 6 foot player now means that they have more money to spend on other areas of the pitch, such as at right-back and striker where they have already seen £25m and £14m bids for Reece James and Fedor Chalov respectively rejected as the deadline draws closer.

Eagles supporters have taken to social media to give their thoughts on the reported deal that sporting director Dougie Freedman, who some fans have become frustrated with this summer because of the lack of business, has agreed with Betis.

West Ham must sign a replacement for Jordan Hugill after the striker joined Queens Park Rangers on a season-long loan deal on Sunday.

What’s the word, then?

Well, the Hammers signed Hugill from Preston back in January 2018 in a deal worth £10m, and it is safe to say that the forward hasn’t really set the world alight at the London Stadium – not by any means.

The 27-year-old has failed to score a single goal for the Hammers in just three appearances, and spent last season out on loan with Middlesbrough where he hit seven goals in 41 games for the Teesiders.

The 6 foot striker has been a massive flop for the Irons, and you can see why he has been shipped out on loan once again – however, the east Londoners cannot just wipe their hands of Hugill and be done with it.

A replacement must be signed

You may wonder just how hard it would be to replace a man without a single goal for the club, and the answer would be: not too hard, in all honesty.

However, even if it is another Hugill type (why on earth would it be?) or an actual challenger to Sebastien Haller or Javier Hernandez, Manuel Pellegrini must get a new striker through the door simply to add depth to the striking ranks.

The Irons now have just the aforementioned pair as first-team strikers, which leaves them pretty thin on the ground in terms of centre-forwards.

Hugill may not have been a key player, but his presence provided backup in case of injury or suspension. His departure, along with Andy Carroll, Marko Arnautovic and Lucas Perez also leaving, means at least one new face must be signed to provide adequate depth next season.

Going into the new campaign with just two recognised strikers would be a huge risk for Pellegrini, and one not worth taking for the Hammers.

Allan Saint-Maximin is still on Newcastle United’s radar, and if the latest reports coming from France are to be believed, the Magpies have received a boost in the chase for their long-time target.

According to L’Equipe, via GFFN, OGC Nice have lowered their asking price for the player from €40m to €25m (£35.9m to £22.4m) for two reasons.

Patrick Vieira allegedly wants to get rid of the player due to his bad behaviour, with the report citing Saint-Maximin’s selfishness and lack of work ethic.

The Ligue 1 outfit have also set their sights on two wingers this summer, and want to sell the 22 year-old to raise funds.

But, of course, it is the first reason that has the Toon Army leaning against this swoop. The young winger averaged an incredible 4.2 dribbles per game last term, but the last thing fans want is a another player in the same vein as Hatem Ben Arfa.

The Gunners’ coveted forward seems to be a jack of all trades, showing great prowess in multiple roles.

Arsenal will be hoping Aubameyang can replicate his form from last season in the 2019/20 campaign as well, or even better yet, improve on it.

In the 2018/19 the 30-year-old played a total of 52 games in all competitions, scoring 31 goals and assisting eight in the process.

He certainly won’t be swapping his centre-forward duties for a stint in goal anytime soon, but fans will certainly be impressed by his effort between the sticks in training.

According to The Sun, Manchester United could involve Eric Bailly in a swap deal which sees them try to bring Harry Maguire to Old Trafford this summer.

What’s the word?

Maguire has been one of the most impressive central defenders in the Premier League over the last couple of years and yet another transfer saga involving the player looks set to play out over the coming months.

The 26-year-old attracted the interest of United during the 2018 summer window but they now look as though they’re going to return for the defender again this year.

The Sun claim that Ed Woodward is prepared to meet Leicester’s £80m asking price for the defender but they could involve both Bailly and Marcos Rojo in a swap.

Bailly is rated at £22.5m per Transfermarkt so it would be terms which likely heighten the value of the deal even further.

Costly blunder if they don’t accept

The fact United would have to pay more than what Liverpool paid to bring Virgil van Dijk to Anfield is absurd.

Leicester clearly value the player very highly and a mega asking price of £80m tells the story.

Yet, if Woodward tried to include Bailly in a swap deal for Maguire, the Foxes would be stupid to reject it.

Despite injuries, the Ivorian has easily been one of United’s best defenders. That may not be saying a lot given the state of their backline, but the fact remains that he’s a high-class central defender.

Maguire is also in that bracket but as far as replacements go, landing Bailly in return for their star defender would be superb business.

The Foxes centre-back enjoyed a steady term in the Premier League throughout 2018/19 but his performances didn’t live up to the displays he turned in before the World Cup.

As a result, losing him wouldn’t be the end of the world, particularly if they can bring in a direct replacement as part of the deal.

Getting Rojo as well would perhaps be a little questionable, but if they have a chance of bringing arguably United’s best defender to the Midlands, they must accept.

Losing Maguire after letting Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante may not be the best statement but the addition of Bailly would certainly soften the blow.

According to The Sun on Sunday (9/6, page 59), Aston Villa are interested in Coventry’s Tom Bayliss this summer.

What’s the word?

After Villa achieved promotion back to the Premier League, adding bodies to a squad that now looks particularly thin after player releases will be key.

No fewer than eight players were confirmed to be going through the exit door whilst Ross McCormack quickly made that nine.

Adding Anwar El Ghazi and Jota to their ranks will certainly help but bolstering their midfield area also looks to be a priority.

The Sun on Sunday (9/6, page 59), claims that Aston Villa are to battle it out for the signing of central midfielder Bayliss.

Also in the running for the 20-year-old’s signature are West Ham.

Following in talented footsteps

Aston Villa’s midfield is arguably the position in their squad that needs the least improvement.

Already containing Jack Grealish, John McGinn and Conor Hourihane, it’s a talented area that most bottom end Premier League teams would be only too pleased to have.

However, the addition of Bayliss would make that even stronger.

A number of talented individuals have come through Coventry’s ranks in recent years with Callum Wilson going onto star for Bournemouth.

The main candidate though is Leicester’s James Maddison who has quickly become one of the division’s brightest prospects.

Coming through the system at Coventry, he’s one of the best creative outlets in the Premier League and is a prime example of the wonderful talent to come through the Sky Blues’ academy.

Bayliss, therefore, could follow in his footsteps by making a move to Villa.

The midfielder is a handy player in defensive and attacking phases of the game, scoring three times in total for Coventry in League One last term. He also claimed three assists.

Given Dean Smith’s record of nurturing young talent, this could be the ideal move for both player and manager.

He may not be the proven Premier League player that Villa are crying out for, but he’s certainly one to watch for the future.

Judging by Coventry’s track record of producing young players, this would be a particularly shrewd piece of business by the Villans if they did complete a deal.

According to The Daily Mail, Rangers man James Tavernier has attracted the interest of West Bromwich Albion as the Baggies gear up for another term in the Championship.

What’s the word?

West Brom have a major rebuild on their hands if they’re to achieve promotion next season.

Seeking a new manager, there also needs to be a drastic improvement in the playing staff. As many as five players could walk out the exit door following those who were also released by the club.

Key to the overhaul could be Tavernier who Albion are interested in according to a report in The Daily Mail.

They claim that they’ll face competition from both Aston Villa and Brighton who have also registered an interest in the dynamic right back.

Improvement needed

As far as modern full backs go, the Gers ace is one of the best in terms of goals and assists registered per season.

In 2018/19 he found the net on 17 occasions whilst also laying on 20 strikes for his teammates. 37 goal involvements is a mightily impressive tally for someone who plays in defence, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still room for improvement.

West Brom would be sorted at set pieces, but it’s in possession of the ball that the 27-year-old will have to be better.

In the Europa League last season he boasted a pass success of just 64.5% whilst he also made 1.5 unsuccessful touches of the ball per game.

In a league as frantic as the Championship, this is something that he’d have to get better at. The quality of the opposition in the SPFL are arguably worse than you’d find in the second tier of English football and not having as much time on the ball could be detrimental for Tavernier.

To make matters worse, the defender was also dispossessed on 1.2 occasions on average per game in the Europa League. For someone playing at the back, this is an alarming statistic.

The fact he’s contributed to so many goals makes him an attractive proposition, but there is still some work for Tavernier to do in order to be a success if he joins West Brom.

Leeds fans have just been given their best news of the summer! Obviously, Marcelo Bielsa is staying, and that’s more important than any signing. 

Thank whatever higher being there may or may not be for that, right?

Indeed, thankfully, he’s decided to exercise the second-year option inserted into the contract he signed in June 2018, and surely next year is the year for Leeds to finally make it to the Premier League. Without him, everything they’ve done this season would be a waste.

Now they can build on the performances that made them such favourites to go up at Christmas and try to emulate that across the whole of next season. They weren’t consistent enough and Bielsa knows it. He won’t make the same mistake twice. El Loco is just far too good for that.

This is the most important agreement in the club’s summer, forget transfers, and it means players will be more likely to join knowing such a tactician is still at the helm. Such is his standing in the game, he’s a major pull factor after the football Leeds have played at times this season.

The 63-year-old has provided a clear vision for how Leeds should play and that’s exciting for any player. If Bielsa can get the signings he needs this summer, the club will earn promotion and be back in the Premier League next time around.

The fact he hasn’t given up and wants to finish the job will keep their best players motivated to right the wrongs of last season and take the club up.

This decision is huge and it could be looked back on as a massive moment in the club’s history.
